High Point Market 2016 Recap

High Point Market 2016 Recap

Every year before market I get a bit anxious. Why?…High Point Market, in North Carolina, is the largest home furnishings industry trade show in the world, with over 10 million square feet, 2,000 exhibitors, and 180 buildings. This can be overwhelming. Once I am there…different story.

As a designer, and a buyer, I make the trek to High Point each year hoping to gain inspiration and enthusiasm from the amazing talent this industry has to offer.  This year’s show did not disappoint.

I began this year at Lee Industries.  Immediately upon arrival, I was honored to find Birkman Interiors included in Lee Industries first ‘Best of Instagram‘ booklet.

All three floors of Lee’s showroom eloquently displayed countless swoon-worthy items. Lee’s introduction of a number of new fabrics caught my attention along with clever sofa transitions and several unique chair designs to liven up any room…from boudoir to outdoor patio.

Next on the highlight list…meeting Mark Sikes.  Mark designed a signature line for Henredon Furniture this year and having the opportunity to discuss, one-on-one, his inspiration and concept was compelling.

The next ‘high point’ was meeting Christopher Spitzmiller at the debut party of his licensing partnership with Visual Comfort. Christopher’s iconic handmade ceramic lamp collection is stunning.

The trend at Hight Point is definitely shifting…it’s exciting to see furniture companies align themselves with talented designers creating everything from signature pieces to full lines including accessories.

The Birkman Interiors showroom is filling up for the holidays with new items from HPMarket, come in and check it out! We look forward to seeing you.
